Bocce Botched

Bocce Botched – 3’x3′ Mixed Media on Canvas.

If you were standing beside me in the studio, I’d tell you this piece wasn’t painted so much as excavated. Bocce Botched is the aftermath of a game that never quite went according to plan—an ode to the beautiful chaos that erupts when precision meets human fallibility. I wanted the canvas to feel alive, almost unruly. Every layer—scraped, poured, dragged, and pressed—was meant to deny your eyes a place to rest. The painting refuses hierarchy. It insists on motion. It pulls you around its surface the way a mis‑thrown bocce ball skitters unpredictably across gravel.

Bocce Botched is about the moment when control slips, and instead of resisting, you surrender to the unexpected. It’s a celebration of the botched attempt, the imperfect throw, the glorious misfire that leads somewhere more interesting than success ever could. Have fun with this one, more to come!
