Retterin

3’x3′ Mixed Media on Canvas.

Retterin is German for savior and possibly the closest thing to a goddess of salvation or healing.

Retterin is a guardian forged in paint — a figure who didn’t emerge gently but arrived with purpose and presence. Built from layers of acrylic, scraped textures, and decisive marks, she stands at the center of the canvas like someone who has already survived the storm and now chooses to face whatever comes next. She isn’t portrayed as delicate or ornamental; she’s a force, a protector, a woman who understands her own power and carries it without apology.

The painting is ultimately about strength stepping into its own name. Retterin embodies resilience, clarity, and the quiet weight of responsibility — the kind of figure who rescues not out of softness, but out of certainty. She asks the viewer to consider their own courage, their own boundaries, their own capacity to stand firm. If she feels like a presence rather than a portrait, that’s intentional; she’s meant to be felt as much as seen.
